I'm a geek who loves D&D. I used to get very visual with my games, so I'd come up with a lot of props, like history outlines and maps.
One game I ran was based out of a series of RPGs for the Playstation called King's Field. This was a map from the second game. I actually put together a PS1 game in RPG Maker that fell between the first and second games. This was a piece I did with crow quill pen and colored inks. I had as much fun putting the props together as I did painting them. I stuck a bunch of cheesy plastic sewing gems on a gold cardboard rim from a cookie container, and set it on a plaster skull like a crown. This was less a painting and more a drawing. It was an assignment to use a bit of oil in a paint cap (burnt umber or something for this one), and no thinner. Then, with a dry brush, we sketched our subject. I did a few like this, they had a cool, antique look.
